3Sisters

Three Sisters was filmed and produced in Austria, with the kind support of the Films and Series producer NETFLIX©Leon Logothetis and with a very engaged Production Team.

This is our first short video-material of a 9-Film Series that explores the “Human Being- Environmentrelationship recreating it through the body language, through Dance.

Three Sisters (Milpa System) is an ancient agricultural practice of peasants and indigenous peoples in Central America.Maize, squash and runner beans are planted in the same bed. They form an ecological symbiosis interchanging nutrients, shade and protection. This collaborative work enhances soil health, decreases soil erosion, multiplies biodiversity and lessens susceptibility to disease and pests. No artificial pesticides and fertilizers are therefore necessary, avoiding water contamination. A vivid example of a Polycultural System.

Nowadays though, Monocultural crops are spreading, generating severe complications for the ecological balance of plants, animals and human beings.

Many people, however, are starting to remember nature’s essence: a “Polycultural” way of thinking, collaborative work, a dance of common forces!

In the second screening of the 9-Film-Serieswe are surrounded by two magic places in Colombia: Guatavita’s Lake and the ancient, imposingly Mountain Range: Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta. There is a vivid, unique energy in those sceneries which provide us with enough courage to explore a devastating reality nowadays:The personal financial interest of some people is going beyond the naturalrules of communion between Man and Mother Earth: Water, Earth, andessential Minerals among others, are being manipulated for the sake of power, money, convenience.

Local indigenous tribes on the Santa Marta’s Mountain Range appreciate and acknowledge the importance of a respectful relationship with Mother Earth. They invoke and pray their Gods in order to maintain the balance of life on earth. Mankind seems to have lost the connection to the environment. SUCK IT, our second Dance-Short-Film exposes this topic and confront us with the actual reality.
